Still pretty new to aquariums and livebearers.

Wondering what the method(s) is to breeding your own line.

Hi Nate!

Welcome to the ALA forums!  What species are you interested in line breeding?

Here is a good  link written by Greg Sage, a past ALA Chairman of the BOD, and owner of Select Aquatics that may give you a start.

Nate,

You may want to look at the beginner's page on how to breed guppies from the IFGA - the International Fancy Guppy Association - for some ideas.

http://www.ifga.org/...y_beginners.htm

Here's information from the IGEES, the International Guppy Education and Exhibition Society

http://igees.org/guppy-care-breeding/

How many tanks do you need?  A few years ago, the president of a local IFGA club told me that you'd need 7 tanks per line.

Here is an interesting discussion on how many tanks

You can certainly Google for more information, but these sites will give you a good idea of how to start.

Best fishes,

Leslie
