Rich Serva, in conjunction with Gil Rosenthal, spawned the concept of hosting a Graduate Student Poster Session (GPS) at the 2010 ALA Convention. Pat Hartman volunteered to assist Rich with this effort. Patrick Miller joined the committee in 2016. The GPS is totally separate from the ALA Vern Parish Fund (VPF), and Langhammer Fund for Conservation (LFC) although some of the posters may overlap with other research proposals. Indeed, many Poster Presenters have also received other ALA grants. We started with a huge response with five Students presenting posters at ALA 2010. Participation has varied over the years but is now a staple of our club and our conventions.
